Because the bench press does not extend its "kinetic chain" through the feet to the floor, it is the only one of the exercises in our program that cannot be considered a whole-body, structural exercise. Nevertheless, we train the bench as one of our core lifts, because it contributes to the development of upper body strength and is a vital accompaniment to the press--which we consider the more valuable exercise. At Greysteel, we teach you to perform this exercise properly, efficiently, and above all, safely
